Background

Cheryl Harawitz, retired from a career in social work focused on keeping family and communities connected. She is the winner of numerous awards in Canada including the Canadian National Film Board production ‘Nicolas,’ a film about her work with a family and the challenges they faced in keeping their severely handicapped child at home.

She moved to Alameda from Nova Scotia in 2010 with her husband Howard. Her interests include painting, music and writing. She is currently finishing up a middle-grade novel about the adventures of a nine-year-old girl discovering the power of being different
