Victor Mavedzenge introduces us to Carolynn Haydu, Christina Spiegel and Dave Sylvester, whose work is featured in the 2020 East Bay Artists book. At first glance, these individuals appear to have very little in common. Visually, their styles and approach to art are quite distinct from one another. Listen in as these three artists share their feelings about empowerment, the value of community and the challenges we all face within the human condition.

About Carolynn…

Carolynn was born in Los Angeles and currently resides in Berkeley. Her collage work is dimensional, rhythmic, and abundantly textural. See more here:

Justice For All: January 2021 Art Talk

In this episode…

Victor Mavedzenge introduces us to Howard Harawitz; an Alameda based musician, photographer and programmer, who’s image ‘London Subway’, is featured in the 2020 East Bay Artists book. Howard bore witness to a tumultuous time in our Bay Area’s history; when civil rights, free speech and equality were the driving forces behind so many heated and emotional demonstrations. He takes us down memory lane, modestly recounting his early infatuation with photography, to the lively 1960’s as he unknowingly captured some of the most moving and thought provoking images of that decade. Tune in for an honest, open discussion about hope, coexistence and the struggles of humankind.

About Howard…

Howard was raised in Brooklyn, New York, during the 1940’s at the start of WWII. He discovered photography at a very young age and immediately fell in love with the process. Take a closer look at his extraordinary photographic documentaries here:
